*Il est maître de forges à Fourchambault et chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, lorsqu'il se fait élire député du 1<sup>er</sup> arrondissement de la Nièvre (Nevers), le 21 avril 1828, comme candidat de l'opposition libérale.<br />
*Beaucoup de royalistes ayant voté pour lui, le premier scrutin ne donne aucun résultat, et les voix se trouvent ainsi partagées :<br />

::de Montigny : 68<br />
::de Bouillé : 64<br />
::Chabrol de Chaméane : 40<br />
::... et Boigues : 27 seulement.<br />
*Le lendemain une majorité, formée des royalistes modérés et des « patriotes », se prononce en faveur de Jean-Louis Boigues.<br />
*Il siège au centre gauche, défend la Charte, et vote contre le ministère Polignac.<br />
* Il est réélu successivement le 23 juin 1830, le 5 juillet 1831, le 21 juin 1834 par 159 voix contre 120 à [[Benoist d'Azy Denis Aimé Emmanuel|<u>Benoist d'Azy</u>]] légitimiste et enfin le 4 novembre 1837.<br />
*Il fait constamment partie de la majorité ministérielle et prend part, notamment au jugement et à la condamnation du journal la Tribune.<br />
*Il meurt pendant la session, à Garchizy (Nièvre), le 12 novembre 1838.<br />
*Son nom reste attaché aux [[De la Sté Boigues Rambourg et Cie à la Sté Métallurgique d'Imphy|<u>Aciéries d'Imphy</u>]] dont il fut l'un des principaux dirigeants.<br><br><br />
